Furman (raised $40,601 to fight cancer)

Sports teams need teamwork to be successful on a consistent basis. Furman's baseball team can serve to remind us that success as a team isn't always measured by wins and losses.

The Paladins capped their annual Vs. Cancer fundraiser after Tuesday's game against South Carolina at Fluor Field. Players and coaches took pledges with the stipulation they would have their heads shaved on top of the dugout afterward.

Furman raised $40,601, best of any 77 athletic teams participating in the event to raise fund in the fight against childhood characters.

Over the last four years, the Furman baseball program has raised $107,890.

Coach Ron Smith, his assistants, his players and support staff can be pround. Forget their record; the Paladins are winners.
