California Institute of Technology snapped a 228-game losing streak Saturday with a 9-7 victory over Pacifica. Pacifica, not Pacific. It was the program's first victory since February, 2003. It was not a conference game. The Beavers have not won a conference game since 1988. The Division III school is renowned for its academics and there's apparently little danger of the school becoming a diploma mill for athletes. The men's basketball team snapped a 310-game conference losing streak in 2011.
