Third in a series
Answers provided by Brian Hennessy, associate sports information director for baseball.

PSB: After what you saw in fall workouts, what are your team's prospects for the 2013 season?

BH: We will be very young, as we only return 4 of 9 starters in the field. We return a lot of our pitching, headlined by Daniel Gossett.

PSB: What are your biggest areas of concern entering the 2013 season?

BH: Hitting. Clemson only returns nine career homers from returning players. Must find bats in the middle of the lineup to replace Shaffer and Pohl.

PSB: In what areas does your team appear to be improved from the 2012 season?

BH: Will be deeper in pitching and should have a healthy Matt Campbell back on the mound, who is one of the team’s best pitchers.

PSB: Based on fall workouts, which returnees from 2012 (including redshirts) look best prepared to play a bigger role in 2013?

BH: Garrett Boulware should start at catcher after playing limited innings behind Spencer Kieboom.

PSB: Based on fall workouts, which newcomers are most likely to contend for major roles in 2013?

BH: Steven Duggar and Maleeke Gibson have good opportunities to start in the outfield. Shane Kennedy and Tyler Krieger have a chance to start on the left side of the infield.
