Four with state ties honored
Three players from state schools and a South Carolina native have been named preseason All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. University of South Carolina pitcher Tyler Webb was a second-team selection. Third-team choices were College of Charleston pitcher Matt Pegler (also of Riverside High), USC Upstate closer Chad Sobotka and Appalachian State shortstop Will Callaway, a former Eastside High star.

Gardner-Webb announces schedule
An April 23 game against the University of South Carolina at Shelby's Keeter Stadium highlights Gardner-Webb's 2013 schedule. The Runnin' Bulldogs  play 18 games against South Carolina schools.

Northern Colorado joining WAC
Northern Colorado, an NCAA Division II baseball power for decades, will be joining the Western Athletic Conference in 2013-14. The school moved to DI in 2003.
