Baseball coaches meet this weekend
The South Carolina (high school) Baseball Coaches Association Winter Clinic is set for Friday and Saturday at the Marriott on Hampton Street in Columbia. The coaching staffs at College of Charleston and Winthrop are to speak at the event. USC coach Chad Holbrook is scheduled to speak at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes breakfast.

Harvard bound for the beach
An appearance in a the Coastal Carolina Invitational at Myrtle Beach is part of Harvard's 2013 schedule. The Crimson are in their first year with Bill Decker as head coach. He replaces longtime coach Joe Walsh, who died last year.

Braves visit Columbia
Atlanta Braves Freddie Freeman, Andrelton Simmons, J.R. Graham and Tyler Pastornicky will be in the Braves Caravan appearance at Academy Sports on Fashion Drive in Columbia Jan. 24. The lineup for visits to Greenville (Jan. 29) and Rock Hill (Jan. 30) have yet to be announced.
