On the national scene
* An East Central Oklahoma University baseball player from Australia was shot and killed while jogging in an Oklahoma town last Friday. Police said Christopher Lane was shot by three teens who were "bored" and decided to kill somebody "for the fun of it."

* The NCAA Baseball Rules Committee has agreed to let the West Coast Conference experiment  with instant replay during its 2014 tournament. The procedure and protocol would be the same as the College World Series, the committee said.
