Pawlowski joins Aztecs
Former Clemson player and assistant coach John Pawlowski has been named pitching coach for former Major Leaguer Tony Gwynn at San Diego State. Pawlowski, a former Major Leaguer, also served as head coach at College of Charleston and Auburn. He was fired at Auburn after the 2013 season.

Southern Wesleyan has announced a 17-player recruiting class for the upcoming season. Included are nine players from South Carolina.

The University of Tennessee has announced its 2014 schedule. Included is a March 28-30 SEC East Division series at South Carolina.

Hembree called up to Giants
Former Broome High and College of Charleston pitcher was called up to the Major Leagues by the San Francisco Giants earlier this week. He pitched  shutout innings against San Diego on Tuesday, striking out two. Hembree began his career at USC, then transferred to Spartanburg Methodist.

Erskine sets fundraiser
Erskine will hold a golf tournament to benefit its baseball program Oct. 22 at Hunter's Creek in Greenwood.

Carlson promoted
Mauldin native and former Furman standout Ben Carlson earned a late-season promotion from the Arizona League to the Pioneer League in the Los Angeles Angels' farm system.
