Six state players on Baseball America list
Six players from state schools are on Baseball America's early Top 100 College Players list for 2014. University of South Carolina catcher Grayson Greiner is the highest-ranked player at No. 24. The Blythewood native is one of three Gamecocks on the list. Also on the list are USC Upstate reliever Chad Sobotka (No. 26), USC infielder/pitcher Joey Pankake (No. 20, Easley High), Coastal Carolina pitcher Ben Smith (No. 48), Clemson pitcher Daniel Gossett (No. 77, Greer High) and USC pitcher Evan Beal (No. 91).

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's preseason All-American team includes Pankake on the second team and Gossett on the third team.

Charleston Southern's 10-player signing class, announced last month, includes six players from South Carolina high schools: LHP Daniel Johnson (Mauldin), IF Ryan Maksim (Bishop England/Brunswick CC), RHP Evan Raynor (West Florence/Florence-Darlington Tech), OF Chris Singleton (Goose Creek), RHP/IF Cody Smith (Goose Creek) and IF Matt White (Summerville/Spartanburg Methodist).
