Clemson held a 2-0 lead until Georgia tied the score with two unearned runs in the seventh.
A leadoff walk, a throwing error on a pickoff attempt, an infield single and an intentional walk loaded the bases for Georgia in the 20th. Tate slapped the ball past Grayson Byrd, who was playing in at third base to end the game at 1:36 a.m. Wednesday.
Byrd had three of Clemson's 10 hits. Bo Majkowski contributed two doubles.
Relievers Logan Moody and Darryn Pasqua combined for 15 strikeouts over the final nine innings as Georgia completed a sweep of the season series.
