Jacob Olson's second home run of the game gave South Carolina a walk-off 10-8 over N.C. State Tuesday night at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte.

N.C. State (27-3), ranked as high first (Collegiate Baseball) nationally, got a pair of two-run homers in the top of the first.

But the Gamecocks (18-11) got home runs from Luke Berryhill, Olson and Brady Allen in a seven-run first inning.

N.C. State crept back, tying the game at 8-8 and getting the potential go-ahead run to third with none out in the eighth, but Wesley Sweatt pitched out of the jam.

T.J.Hopkins got a led off the ninth with a single and was replaced by Berryhill on a fielder's chioice.

Olson followed with a blast to left to end the game.

Carolina opens an SEC series at Alabama Thursday night.

Briefly: Georgia scored two runs in the first inning and never trailed in beat Clemson in a matchup of ranked teams ... Grant English had four hits and Spencer Yankle homered to lead off the ninth as Winthrop snapped its four-game losing streak and Furman's five-game winning streak. Last Tuesday, the Paladins beat the Eagles to snap a seven-game losing streak and Winthrop's eight-game winning streak ... Wright State scored three runs in the first inning and was never headed against Wofford ... Seven pitchers combined on a four-hitter as Southern Wesleyan snapped a nine-game losing streak ... J.J. Shimko had three hits and Julian Rip had an inside-the-park home run for USC Upstate. The Spartans stole a school-record six bases ... Tyler White drove in two runs, but Newberry had a 12-game winning streak snapped and suffered its first home loss after 20 wins ... Limestone jumped to a 13-0 lead after four innings ... Illinois did all its scoring in the first inning in the opener of a two-game series ... Francis Marion fought back from a 7-1 deficit, scoring two runs in the ninth to force extra innings, but surrendered the winning run on a wild pitch. The game ended when Queens threw out a runner at home ... Georgia Southern wiped out a 5-2 deficit with an eight-run eighth.
