State schedule, Feb. 19-21

What was supposed to be the first full weekend of college baseball in South Carolina has been impacted by the wet weather and more changes could be in store.

At least 10 series have had postponements, time changes, date changes or venue changes as of Thursday night.

The state's 10 NCAA Division I teams play for the first time since COVID-19 issues disrupted the 2020 season in March.  South Carolina, a consensus Top 25 team in the preseason national rankings, opens with a home series against Dayton. Clemson, which received some support in the national polls, is at home against Cincinnati. Coastal Carolina, also mentioned on one preseason poll, plays Duke on Saturday because its Friday opener has been rained out.

Florence-Darlington Tech and Spartanburg Methodist head south to play in challenging junior college tournaments.

Bob Jones is scheduled to play the first game in program history as part of a home doubleheader against Montreat at Conestee Park between Greenville and Mauldin. The Bruins, who compete in NCAA Division III and the National Christian College Athletic Association, were rained out of their scheduled debut last weekend at Truett McConnell. BJU is coached by former Chicago Cubs minor-league Brent Casteel.
