at Benedict since 2010.

Benedict has been able to put together a 10-game baseball schedule on short notice.

Late last month, the SIAC announced it had canceled its spring sports seasons, but allowed member schools the option of playing nonconference games. Soon after that, coach Selwyn Young sent me an e-mail saying he was hopeful he would be able to get some games for his team to play.  The Tigers were ranked fifth among small-college teams in the Black College Nines preseason rankings.

Coach Young sent me an e-mail today to announce the schedule. The schedule includes four doubleheaders and two games at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach. Six games are at home and two more are against Morris in Sumter.

Young is beginning his 12th year at Benedict. He was instrumental in getting the Tigers' home field constructed and his teams have frequently ranked among the top base-stealing teams in NCAA Division II.
