Newberry, Coker qualify for SAC Tournament

Catawba is the top seed for the South Atlantic Conference baseball tournament beginning Thursday at Smokies Park in Kodak, Tenn.

The top four teams get byes in the first round of the tournament. The fifth through eighth seeds are involved in a single-elimination round to reach the six-team, double-elimination portion of the event.

Coker earned the No. 7 seed and will meet No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Newberry earned the third seed and will play No. 4 Wingate at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday.
