Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, April 12-18: USC Aiken

USC Aiken (4-0 for the week)

(beat Georgia College, went 3-0 against Young Harris)

USC Aiken started the season in an 0-4 hole and has been struggling to climb much above the .500 mark ever since.

The Pacers are finally doing so at what could be just the right time They came from behind twice Sunday to complete a Peach Belt Conference series sweep of Young Harris and move a season-high five games over .500 (19-14).  The current four-game winning streak also is a season high.

USC Aiken also moved into fifth place in the PBC standings with a final-weekend series at Lander remaining.

Longtime coach Kenny Thomas announced last Augusta he would retire after this season. His players look like they're desirous to give him a final season to remember.

Up next for the Pacers: Game 1 of a PBC series at Lander Friday night.
