Columbia International draws Milligan in first round of AAC Tournament


Columbia International will play Milligan at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the first game of the double-elimination portion of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament.  Games will be played at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn.

The top 10 finishers in the 12-team NAIA conference qualified for the event. The bottom four seeds will meet in a pair of single-elimination games Tuesday for a spot in the eight-team double-elimination portion of the event.

Columbia International was 16-14 in league play and  finished fifth in the standings. It lost two of three head-to-head meetings with Milligan. The Rams handed regular-season champion Tennessee Wesleyan two of its only four losses all season.

Game 1:

Game 2: No. 8 Truett McConnell (26-21) vs. No. 9 Bluefield (24-22), 2 p.m.
Wednesday, May 5
Game 3: No. 4 Milligan (27-21) vs. No. 5 Columbia International (28-24), 9 a.m.

Game 4: No. 3 Bryan (32-15) vs. No. 6 Point (22-22), noon
Game 5: No. 2 Reinhardt (31-17) vs. Game 1 winner, 4 p.m.
Game 6: No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan (47-4) vs. Game 2 winner, 7 p.m.

Thursday, May 6
Game 7:
 Game 4 loser vs. Game 5 loser, 9 a.m.
Game 8: Game 3 loser vs. Game 6 loser, noon
Game 9: Game 4 winner vs. Game 5 winner, 4 p.m.
Game 10: Game 3 winner vs. Game 6 winner, 7 p.m.

Friday, May 7
Game 11:
 Game 7 winner vs. Game 9 loser, 9 a.m.
Game 12: Game 8 winner vs. Game 10 loser, noon
Game 13: Game 9 winner vs. Game 11 winner, 4 p.m.
Game 14: Game 10 winner vs. Game 12 winner, 7 p..m.

Saturday, May 8
Schedule will be finalized following the results of Game 13 and 14. If only one game, it will be played at 2 p.m. If there one 'if necessary' game is needed, it will be played at 11 am with the championship game at 3 p.m. If both 'if necessary games are needed, the games will be played at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m.
