FD Tech's Williams, McDonald get Region 10 individual honors

Nathan Williams of Florence-Darlington Tech was named pitcher of the year and the Stingers' Preston McDonald was named coach of the year as part of the NJCAA Region 10 honors announced Thursday night.

Florence-Darlington Tech won the regular-season championship and is the top seed for the league tournament beginning Friday in Lexington.

Selections were made by league coaches.

Trendon Craig of Louisburg was named player of the year and Tristan Snyder of the Hurricanes was named relief pitcher of the year.

Joining Williams as first-team selections from FD Tech were infielders Luke Wood and Patrick Matthews and pitcher Charlie Mac Toman.

Infielder Dosi Jonas and outfielder Khyree Miller were first-team picks from Spartanburg Methodist. Outfielder Kameron Heath and designated hitter Jackson Price of USC Sumter also were first-teamers.

Craig, Matthews, Miller, catcher Chris Sparber of Louisburg and pitcher Tyler Hall of Louisburg were first-teamers who also made the region's defensive team.

SMC's Jordan Starkes and Louisburg's Ei Weisner were second-team choices. They transferred to their respective schools after Furman dropped its program last year.
