North Greenville is bidding for a trip to the NCAA Division II World Series |
Seeds and pairings for the Southeast Regional and seven other regionals were announced Sunday night at NCAA.com
North Greenville (33-11), the Conference Carolinas Tournament champion, is the fourth seed in the six-team, double-elimination event. Wingate (30-12), the tournament champion in the South Atlantic Conference, is the third seed.
SAC regular-season champion Catawba (32-9) is the No. 1 seed and will face Peach Belt Conference Tournament champion Columbus State (29-14), the sixth seed.
Mount Olive (35-10), the Conference Carolinas regular-season champion, is the second seed and will play Peach Belt Conference regular-season UNC Pembroke (29-13), the fifth seed.
Newberry and North Georgia were the two other teams the NCAA was considering for at-large bids, but the three selections went to the three regular-season champions in the region.
The eight regional champions advance to the NCAA Division II World Series June 5-12 in Cary, N.C.
