Columbia International (3-0 for the week)
(beat Kansas Christian, Carolina University and Southwestern Christian to win NCCAA World Series)
Presbyterian (3-0 for the week)
(beat Campbell, Gardner-Webb and Campbell again to win Big South Conference Tournament)
There was no way I was going to deny either of these teams their due, hence the co-teams of the week for the second time in a month.
Columbia International finished a 9-0 run through the National Christian College Athletic Association playoffs by beating Southwestern Christian on Tuesday to win that organization's World Series. Coach Jonathan Johnson's club used good blend of pitching and offense to take the title.
Presbyterian earned the school's first-ever spot in the NCAA Division I playoffs by going 3-0 in the Big South Conference Tournament.
Coach Elton Pollock's squad knocked off regular-season champion Campbell in its first and third tournament games. A three-run ninth inning in the championship game put the Blue Hose up, then Eric Toth shut down the Camels in the bottom of the inning to complete the title run.
PC has won eight of its last nine games, putting its record above .500 (22-21) for the first time this season.
Up next for the Rams: The 2022 season
Up next for the Blue Hose: A first-round game in the NCAA Tournament; opponent and site to be announced Monday.
