Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, May 3-9: Wofford

Wofford (4-0 for the week)
(beat Winthrop; went 3-0 vs. The Citadel)

Wofford is hitting high gear as the Southern Conference season winds down. The weekend sweep of The Citadel pushed the Terriers' SoCon winning streak to five games.

After starting league play 6-5, Wofford has won 11 of its last 13.

Coach Todd Interdonato's squad has shown a knack for winning tight games. The Terriers scored the final eight runs in Sunday's Game 1 with The Citadel for an 11-10 win. That moved Wofford's record in one-run games to 12-4.

Elliot Carney came without an out of his second no-hitter in less than a month in Sunday's second game, pushing Wofford's record to 30-16.

Leadoff batter Nolen Hester has been a wonderful table-setter, batting .379 with a .495 on-base percentage. But, he's much more than that. He drove in eight runs in the Citadel series and has 35 for the season,  one behind team leader Colin Davis.

Up next for the Terriers: at Duke Tuesday. then a SoCon series at Western Carolina.
