Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, May 10-16: Florence-Darlington Tech

Florence-Darlington Tech (3-0 for the week)

(beat Spartanburg Methodist for region  title; beat Monroe twice for district title)

Florence-Darlington Tech is rolling. The Stingers'  two-game sweep of Monroe in the Eastern District Championship Series improved their record to 46-6 and clinched the program's second trip to the NJCAA World Series.

Coach Preston McDonald's team has been putting up gaudy numbers. Tech is .hitting .352 as a team and  average more than 10 runs per game.

The Stingers have won six straight games, 14 of their last 15, 28 of the last 31 and 42 of the last 46 after a 4-2 start.

With all due respect to the other Region 10 teams, the Stingers have been the best in the league from the beginning of the season.

Now, we get to see how they stack up against the best in the country.

Up next for the Stingers: at NJCAA World Series, Grand Junction, Colo.
