Community College of Baltimore County-Dundalk came south to start it season and stepped right into a nest of Fire Ants. Coach Tim Medlin's squad bludgeoned the visitors, outscoring them 82-4 in sweeping the series. All five games were halted early because of the mercy rule. Sumter batted in 23 innings and scored in 20 of them,

Up next for the Fire Ants:  They'll play Potomac State and Walters State  in Riley Park Saturday and Sunday as part of a pair of round-robin tripleheaders.
