Last Saturday morning, Orangeburg's Historic Mirmow Field played host to a clinic-type event designed to teach youngsters about baseball.
About 100 area youths from ages 5 to 12 took part in the event, where they received instruction from Claflin players prior to the Panthers' doubleheader against Augusta..
The event was part of Major League Baseball's HBCU Play Ball Series. The events partner with Historically Black Colleges and Universities - in this case Claflin.
Claflin is one of four HBCUs in South Carolina with a baseball program, joining Benedict, Morris and Voorhees.
