Briefly: South Carolina exploded for seven runs in the first two innings and Will Sanders struck out 11 in 7 innings as the Gamecocks snapped Vanderbilt's 18-game winning streak to even their SEC series. USC had lost its previous five games ... Pitt scored two first-inning runs and Clemson batters struck out 13 times as the Panthers won the opener of an ACC doubleheader. It could have been worse:  Tigers center fielder Dylan Brewer robbed Pitt catcher Tatem Levins of a grand slam and with an over-the-fence catch for the third out of the second inning. In Game 2, Pitt took an early 9-0 lead and survived a mild Clemson rally. The Tigers struck out 18 more times ... Pat Monteith's grand slam was the difference as North Greenville topped Mount Olive in the opener of a Conference Carolinas series. The Crusaders have won seven straight ... Austin Morgan struck out in seven inning in Game 2 as USC Upstate split a Big South Conference road doubleheader at Radford ... Texas State held Coastal Carolina hitless until the seventh inning, but needed a rally in the bottom of the inning to win the opener of the Sun Belt Conference series ... Donovan Ford had three hits and drove in two runs as Newberry won a South Atlantic Conference series opener ... A throwing error in the 10th allowed Coker to win the opener of a South Atlantic Conference series ... Leandy Castro homered and Brian Meyer had three hits in Game 1 of USC Beaufort's Sun Conference doubleheader split with No. 10 St. Thomas ... A four-run sixth inning gave Mars Hill a cushion and it held on to beat Anderson in the opener of a South Atlantic Conference series ... Chowan got its first Conference Carolinas win of the season and moved past Southern Wesleyan in the standings by winning the opener of the series ... King withstood a ninth-inning rally from Erskine to win the opener of the Conference Carolinas series ... Francis Marion's Todd Mattox extended his on-base streak to 69 games, but the Patriots were drilled by Emmanuel in the opener of a Conference Carolinas series ... Campbell pushed Presbyterian's losing streak to six games in the opener of a Big South Carolina series ... High Point broke a 4-4 tie with a seventh-inning run against Winthrop ...
