Cougars Privette gets preseason honor

William Privette of College of Charleston was the only player from a state school to be named to the NCBWA preseason all-American team announced Thursday by  the sportswriters organization. It was the fourth preseason honor for the Chapin native.

Tigers picked fifth in ACC Atlantic

Clemson is picked to finish fifth in the ACC Atlantic Division in the preseason vote of conference coaches announced Thursday. Despite the overall result, one coach picked the Tigers to win the overall and division titles in  their first season under coach Erik Bakich. Louisville was the choice to win the Atlantic Division, with Miami the pick in the Coastal Division. Louisville and Wake Forest each got six of 14 votes to win the overall title.

Pioneers tweak weekend schedule

Spartanburg Methodist has adjusted the schedule for  this weekend's home series with Paul D. Camp. The teams will play a single game at 1 p.m. Saturday and a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mooneyham Field in Spartanburg.
