Derek Bender homered twice and drove in five runs as Coastal Carolina handed No. 2 Wake Forest its first loss, 13-11, at Springs Brooks Stadium.

The Chanticleers (8-4) benefited from an un-No.-2-like performance by Wake (13-1). The Demon Deacons committed seven errors and a passed ball, contributing to nine unearned runs.

A pair of first-inning home runs staked Wake Forest to a 3-0, but Coastal scored two runs in the first and six unearned runs in the second to go up 8-3. Wake scored three in the seventh to take an 11-10 lead, but the Chants responded with three unearned runs in the bottom of the inning, seventh, capped by Ty Dooley's two-run homer.
