 Sizzlin'

* Gary Gilmore, Coastal Carolina - The veteran coach picked up his 1,300th coaching win with Sunday's come-from-behind win over Davidson. He led the Chanticleers to the 2016 College World Series championship. He has continued to field competitive teams despite having cancer issues the past few seasons. Gilmore won 253 games at USC Aiken before becoming coach at his alma mater, where his record is 1,047-555-3. Gilmore should coach his 2,000th college game sometime in May. Up next: No. 5 Wake Forest at Home, Tuesday.

* College of Charleston (Last week: 4-0. Overall: 7-3. Streak: Won 6) - The Cougars opened their season with a win over a ranked Virginia Tech team before dropping the final two game of the series. A loss in the opener of a series with Maryland Baltimore County follows. Since then, coach Chad Holbrook's squad has taken no prisoners in in winning six straight. Other than last week's one-run verdict over Coastal,  the Cougars have won  by 7,8, 8, 8, and 7 runs. The team batting average is .317 and the staff ERA is 4.20. Pitchers have struck out 92 in 90 innings. Up next: Longwood at home, Tuesday.

* USC Lancaster (Last week: 1-0. Overall: 13-2. Streak: Won 6) - The Lancers haven't lost since Feb. 19. Patrick & Henry, which USCL beat four times, is the only opponent with a winning. Region 10 play begins this week, so the Lancers will have a chance to prove their ability against stronger competition. Up next: at Fayetteville Tech, Tuesday. lsot.

* Wofford (Last week: 4-0. Overall: 10-1. Streak: Won 10) - (see the team of the week post for details). Up next: at Winthrop, Tuesday

Shiverin'


* Bob Jones (Last week: 0-3. Overall: 2-9. Streak: Lost 8) - When the Bruins were 2-1 they were above .500 for the first time in school history. They haven't won since. Up next:  Montreat at home, Tuesday.

* Claflin (Last week: 0-4. Overall: 0-13. Streak: Lost 13) - On the bright side, the Panthers went a Saturday without being no-hit. Opponents have scored in double figure the last 10 games. Up next: at Savannah State, Tuesday.

* USC Salkehatchie (Last week: 0-4. Overall: 1-17. Streak: Lost 13) - The Indians' bats finally came alive in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader with Georgia Highlands, pushing across 16 runs. Unfortunately, Georgia Highlands scored 24. Coach Jeremy Joye posted on social media that Salkehatchie was making good contact in Game 2, but not getting results. Up next: South Georgia at home, Tuesday.
