USC to retire Bouknight's jersey

Kip Bouknight, one of the best pitchers in University of South Carolina history, will gave his No. 14 jersey retired prior to Friday's home game with Auburn.

Bouknight, the 2000 winner of the Golden Spikes Award as the top amateur baseball player in the country,  holds the school record for wins (45), innings pitched (482), starts (566) and strikeouts (457).

He was 17-1 in 2000, helping the Gamecocks to a 55-10 record and SEC regular-season championship, That team is regarded as one of the most best in school history, but its drive for the College World Series was halted by Louisiana (Lafayette) in the Super Regionals.

Bouknight graduated from Brookland-Cayce School and went on to play professional baseball. He currently serves as color analyst on USC home video streams.
