Briefly:  Auburn roughed up Will Sanders to open an SEC series by handing South Carolina just its second home loss of the season. Carolina shortstop Braylen Wimmer left the game with an apparent hamstring-type injury ... Caden Grice homered, doubled twice and drove in three runs in Game 1, but Boston College held the Clemson to two hits in the nightcap to split an ACC doubleheader ... Dalton Reeves' grand slam highlighted a six-run third inning as Presbyterian took the opener of a Big South series at USC Upstate ... Old Dominion took an early six-run lead and survived a four-run ninth  by Coastal Carolina to take the opener of a Sun Belt Conference series ... Lander won its sixth straight game and likely ended USC Aiken's chances of taking the Peach Belt Conference regular-season title ... Pat Monteith hit a solo home run in the first and Marek Chlup had a two-run shot in the eighth as North Greenville shut out Southern Wesleyan in the opener of a Conference Carolinas series ... Augusta scored four runs in the eighth to hand USC Beaufort its 14th straight loss ... College of Charleston had a 2-1 lead over Elon in the eighth inning when a power outage forced the game to be suspended until Saturday ... N.C. State scored four runs in the fourth en route to winning a series opener against The Citadel ... Joshua Hernandez and Chase Hadley had two-run singles in the ninth inning of Game 1 for Columbia International ...

- A six-run third inning put Newberry in command in the first round of the tournament pod at the Smith Road Complex.  Henry Gibson, Jesse Free and Jomar Lugo drove in two runs apiece.  Ethan LeBron pitched a four-hit complete game as the Wolves advanced to a Saturday game against Lenoir-Rhyne.  Tusculum and Carson-Newman will play an elimination game.

Wingate 2, Anderson 0 - Conference pitcher of the year Mitch Farris shut out the Trojans on two hits in Wingate, N.C. Anderson faces Catawba in an elimination game on Saturday.
