Longtime Coastal Carolina baseball coach Gary Gilmore told Sports Talk SC on Monday that he will step down as Chanticleers coach after the 2024 season.

Gilmore dropped the information during an interview with Sports Talk host Phil Kornblut.

Gilmore has won 1,079 games at Coastal and directed the Chanticleers to the 2016 College World Series championship. Counting a stint at USC Aiken he has won 1,332 games. He had a bout with cancer a few years back but has been able to continue his career while having regular evaluations of his health.

Coastal makes its 18th NCAA Tournament appearance under Gilmore beginning Friday with a game against Rider in the Conway Regional at Springs Brooks Stadium.
