FD Tech paces all-Region 10 team


Regular-season champion Florence-Darlington Tech had five first-team selections for the all-NJCAA Region 10 baseball team for Division I teams announced Thursday night.

In addition, Stingers coach Preston McDonald was selected coach of the year and Spenser Hamblen was named pitcher of the year in voting by league coaches.

Hamblen was joined on the first team by teammates Rio Foster (outfield), Dylan Johnson (catcher) and infielders Rom Kellis and Javier Crespo.

USC Lancaster's Brandon Langley was named relief pitcher of the year and Lancers teammate Kyle Markowitz was named region defensive player of the year.

Rhogue Wallace and Hunter Fryzowicz of Spartanburg Methodist, Trent Turner of USC Union and Jeremiah Locklear of USC Sumter were other first-team selections from state teams.

The region tournament begins Friday at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
