Briefly: Four-hit pitching and a three-run sixth inning lifted Clemson to victory over Louisville in the opener of an important ACC series. The Tigers moved past Boston College and Notre Dame into second place in the Atlantic Division and fourth place overall ... Kentucky scored two first-inning runs and never trailed in winning the opener of an SEC series with South Carolina. The Gamecocks dropped into third place in the East Division and fifth place overall ... Cameron Reeves allowed two runs over seven innings as The Citadel won the opener of a SoCon series and moved out of last place ... Reese Dutton struck out 8 in 7 2/3 innings as USC Upstate stayed two games behind Big South leader Campbell and went three games up on Gardner-Webb. The Spartans reached 30 wins for the third consecutive season ... Ty Good matched his career high with 11 strikeouts as College of Charleston took the opener of a Colonial Athletic Association series and remained 3 1/2 games behind leader Northeastern ...  A seven-run seventh gave Winthrop momentum as it won its fifth consecutive Big South Conference game and pulled within a game of fourth-place Charleston Southern ... UNCG used a 10th-inning homer to walk off with a win in the opener of a Southern Conference series and drop Wofford 1 1/2 games behind first-place Samford ... Caden Bodine's fourth-inning single was Coastal Carolina's only hit and Appalachian State pitchers struck out 15 in taking the Sun Belt Conference series opener. The Chanticleers fell into a first-place tie with Southern Mississippi ... High Point snapped a seven-game losing streak in the opener of a Big South Conference series with Charleston Southern ... Miami broke open a 1-0 game against Presbyterian with four-run innings in the sixth, seventh and eighth. Dominic Pitelli homered in each of those innings and was 5-for-5 with 9 RBI ...


NJCAA Region 10 Tournament
* USC Sumter 8, USC Union 3 
- Capers Molinaroli had three hits and drove in three runs as the Fire Ants won their tournament opener. Jeremiah Locklear struck out 12 in eight innings for Sumter, which fell behind 2-0 in the first inning.  The Fire Ants play Gaston College at 4 p.m. Saturday, while the Bantams face Louisburg in an elimination game at 9 a.m.
* USC Lancaster 5, Spartanburg Methodist 4, 11 innings - Joe Sperry's two-run single in the 11th inning put the No. 5 seed Lancers ahead and they held on to upend the No. 4 Pioneers in the only Day 1 result to go to a lower seed.
* Florence-Darlington Tech 12, USC Salkehatchie 2, 5 innings - Noah Stout and Aaron Fulk homered and drove in three runs each as the top-seeded Stingers rolled. Next up for Tech is a 7:30 p.m. Saturday game against USC Lancaster.  Gavin Phillips homered for the Indians, who play SMC in an elimination game at 12:30 p.m.

Conference Carolinas Tournament
* Belmont Abbey 8, North Greenville 4
- A six-run third inning jump-started the Abbey as it eliminated the regular-season champions. John Michael Faile had three hits for NGU, including his 75th career homer. That ties him for the NCAA Division II record.  The season-long body of work for North Greenville will keep the squad at or near the top of teams in line for Division II playoff bids from the Southeast Region.
* Mount Olive 14, Francis Marion 8 - The Trojans scored three runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to send the Patriots into the losers' bracket at 3 p.m. Saturday against Barton. Will Hardee had three hits to become FMU's career hits leader with 288.

Peach Belt Conference Tournament
* USC Aiken 10, Lander 6
- Jackson Hannon and Joseph Mozingo drove in three runs apiece as USC Aiken turned back Lander in a first-round game. Will McClellan, Ethan Wilder and Oliver Zohn homered for the Bearcats. The Pacers face host Young Harris on Saturday, while Lander has an elimination game against North Georgia.
