Gamecocks hire Matt Williams

Lancaster native Matt Williams was announced Tuesday as the new pitching coach at South Carolina. He comes to Columbia after serving as pitching coach at Liberty University. He was a player and coach under Tim Wallace at Spartanburg Methodist. Williams replaces Justin Parker, who was hired at Mississippi State to replace South Carolina native Scott Foxhall as the Bulldogs' pitching coach.

Mahlstedt a Gold Glove finalist

Wofford pitcher Lucas Mahlstedt is the only Palmetto State player on the list of finalists for the Gold Glove Award  for NCAA Division I players recognized as outstanding defensive players.
