Wake picked to win ACC
Wake Forest is the overwhelming pick to win the Atlantic Coast Conference champion this season according to a preseason vote of league coaches.
The Demon Deacons received 10 of 14 first-place votes from head coaches. North Carolina got two votes, while Clemson and Virginia got one apiece.
Wake also was the pick to win the Atlantic Division, getting 95 voting points based on a descending scale according to voted position finish (1st to 14th). Clemson was picked to finish second to the Demon Deacons in the Atlantic Division. Virginia was a narrow pick over North Carolina as the favorite to win the Coastal Division.
The season begins Feb. 16. Clemson's first ACC series is at Duke Feb. 15.

Albany State favored in SIAC
Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference coaches pick Albany State to win the league's championship this season. Benedict is picked to finish 10th. Tigers outfielder Isaiah Canty and utility player Justin Murray are first-team preseason all-conference picks while catcher Taj Bates and outfielder Jalen McDuffie are second-team choices for Benedict.SIAC preseason coaches poll

Ex-Gamecock Morales switches jobs
Adrian Morales, one of the leaders of South Carolina's back-to-back NCAA champion teams, is in his first year as coach at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Fla. after going 126-60-2 in four seasons at Miami Dade (junior college). Morales was an infielder for the Gamecocks in 2010-11. Nova Southeastern faces Erskine and Lander later this season.
