Charlotte, Durham share ACC tournaments

The Atlantic Coast Conference on Thursday announced tournament championship sites for several sports, with Charlotte and Durham alternating host roles for the baseball tournament for the next six seasons.

The 2024, 2026 and 2028 tournaments will be played at Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The 2025, 2027 and 2029 events will be played at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

FD Tech in tournament mode

Florence-Darlington Tech coach Preston McDonald is making sure his players get a taste of tournament style competition. They'll be in Florida for a second straight weekend beginning Friday to compete in the John Tindall Classic in Palatka.

Then, the Stingers will stay in Florence for three consecutive weekends of the the Stinger Invitational. Some games will be played at Dailey Field on campus and Carolina Bank Field.

The competition changes each weekend, with some solid programs coming in. Both Harford (Week 1) and Monroe (Week 2) are veterans of the NJCAA Eastern District Tournament, which qualifies one team for the Junior College World Series each year in Grand Junction, Colo. Region 10 rival USC Sumter is in the field for the third week.

Salkehatchie schedule adjusted

Prospective bad weather has led to changes in USC Salkehatchie's weekend series at Catawba Valley. The teams will now play a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday and a single game at noon Sunday in Hickory, N.C.
