The last time Lenoir-Rhyne served as host to North Greenville, the Bears scored five runs in the first three innings and held on for a victory.

The third-ranked Crusaders made sure history wouldn't be repeated, scoring six runs in the first inning and five in the second to snap L-R's season-opening four-game winning streak.

Zach Cowart had two doubles and a triple and Dakota Britt, Jax Cash, Pat Monteith and Bryce Roddey had two hits apiece for coach Landon Powell's squad. Thomas Powell walked twice, scored three times and drove in two runs for NGU.

Five Crusaders pitchers combined to allow eight hits, walk nine and hit two batters, but the big early working margin kept the game from getting tight.

Elsewhere: Ethan Wilson tripled twice and homered in Game 1 and Kai Tullos doubled and homered in the nightcap of Spartanburg Methodist's two run-rule wins over Catawba Valley. Kemper Nix struck out nine in four innings in Game 2 ... Carson Phillips singled twice, stole bases and scored two runs as USC Beaufort rallied past Edward Waters ... Donavan Frayer stole home in the bottom of the eighth to give Coker the margin of victory over Chowan ... Isaiah Palmer had two singles and a double, stole three bases, scored two runs and knocked in two as Voorhees dispatch Claflin ... Southeastern (NC) opened the game with 3 two-run innings to keep USC Salkehatchie winless ...
