Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, March 18-24: Clemson

Clemson (5-0 for the week)
(beat Winthrop, beat Presbyterian; went 3-0 vs. Florida State)

The Tigers' ACC series sweep of previously unbeaten Florida State had to be seen to be believed. Luckily, I was there to cover it for TigerNet in a pinch-writer role.

Coach Erik Bakich's team rallied in all three games to improve to 22-2 overall and 5-1 in the league.

They fell behind 4-0 after four batters in the series opener, but roared back for a 15-5 win that was halted in the seventh inning by the run rule.

In the second game of the doubleheader, they trailed 8-1 entering the ninth and scored eight runs to win, 9-8.

On Sunday, FSU was up 11-2 before Clemson scored five runs in the sixth and six in the seventh en route to a 14-12 win.

In a word, the Tigers are HOT!!!

Up next: Coastal Carolina, Tuesday.
