Briefly: USC Upstate had 15 hits - four of them home runs - to blister Radford and improve to 4-0 in the Big South Conference. ... Brody Fahr had six hits - including two triples in Game 2 - as Presbyterian snapped a six-game losing streak by taking a Big South doubleheader at Longwood ... Dale Francis Jr.'s second home run of the game capped a three-run 10th inning as Erskine completed a Conference Carolinas sweep at Chowan ... Chandler Tuopo had four hits, including a homer, and Charleston Southern used two big innings to win the opener of a Big South series at UNC Asheville ... Gardner-Webb scored three runs in the seven and held on to beat Winthrop in the opener of a Big South series. Riley Huge struck out nine in five innings for the Eagles and has 71 in 37 innings this season.

Beyond the border

ACC:  Mauldin native Alberto Osuna had two hits and drove in two runs as No. 20 North Carolina beat Georgia Tech, 5-4, although Drew Burress hit his 14th homer for the Yellow Jackets. Wofford transfer Trey Yunger had two hits and USC transfer Brett Thomas pitched a shutout inning for Tech. N.C. State upended No. 9 Duke, 4-3; No. 16 Wake Forest beat Louisville, 5-1; No. 19 Virginia Tech topped Boston College twice, 9-6 and 4-3 in 10 innings; No. 14 Virginia run-ruled Pitt, 18-2 and Notre Dame beat Miami, 6-2.

SEC: Tennessee got a seven-inning win over Ole Miss, 15-3; Mississippi State evened its series at Texas A&M, 5-1, as Eastside High grad David Mershon went 2-for-4; Kentucky used a six-run 11th to beat Missouri, 9-4, as former Erskine closer Johnny Hummel got the win in relief Ryder Helfrick homered in the ninth as Arkansas beat Auburn, 6-5, for its 15th straight win and clinched a series win; LSU dumped Florida, 6-1. Alabama and Georgia were rained out.

Big South: High Point beat Richmond, 5-3, in an out-of-conference game.

CAA:
Delaware outlasted No. 22 Campbell, 10-8; Hofstra edged Northeastern, 3-2 in Game 1 and Northeastern won Game 2, 13-9; UNCW smacked Elon, 13-3; Monmouth swept Towson, 13-3 and 9-6, and William & Mary beat Stony Brook, 3-1. 

SoCon: Mercer won the series opener with UNCG, 5-2 and Western Carolina doubled up East Tennessee State, 8-4. VMI and Samford were postponed.

Sun Belt: Texas State beat James Madison, 11-5; Marshall topped Arkansas State, 6-2 and Louisiana beat Old Dominion, 3-0, and South Alabama defeated Troy, 12-8.  

SAC: Lincoln Memorial beat Tusculum, 14-9.

Elsewhere: Texas San Antonio topped No. 10 East Carolina, 4-2, and NCAA Division II No. 1 Tampa clubbed Florida Southern, 11-2.
