Clemson 9, Florida State 8, Game 2
CLEMSON - After a Clemson run-rule win in Game 1, Florida State starting pitcher Jamie Arnold cruised through seven innings  in the nightcap, leaving with an 8-1 lead thanks to five Seminoles homers.

“We came back up in the dugout for the ninth and (Coach Erik Bakich) said ‘Everybody get ready; we’re going to bat around,’ ” said Tigers infielder Blake Wright.

They batted around - and then some - sending 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the ninth and stunning the seventh-ranked Seminoles on Jacob Hinderleider's walk-off single.

Hinderleider had a three-run homer earlier in the inning to cut the FSU lead to 8-4, and Blake Wright tied the game with a grand slam. It was Wright's eighth homer in nine games.

“It was absolutely awesome to witness that,” Bakich said. “I felt like a fan, not a coach watching that. It was like Christmas morning.”

FSU, unbeaten prior to Saturday, had a 4-0 lead after four batters in Game 1 on Jaime Ferrer's grand slam. But Ethan Darden, getting a start because of an ankle injury to Tristan Smith, settled down after that. Cam Cannarella, Hinderleider and Wright all homered as the Tigers pulled away to a 15-5 win.

The series concludes at 1 p.m. Sunday.
