Clemson-USC game canceled
The Clemson at South Carolina game postponed by rain March 1 has now been canceled. A release from Clemson said a mutual date for a makeup game could not be reached "based on remaining competition and academic schedules."

My take: THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. Neither team is scheduled to play April 10, 17 or 24. USC has the April 9 game against UNC in Charlotte, Clemson has an April 16 game at Charlotte and an April 23 game at Georgia. None would create an undue travel burden with either team. Fans of both schools deserved to have this game played. Exams begin at USC in April 24, but they're playing a home series with Kentucky April 25-27! Whichever school (or both) that drug its feet on this should be embarrassed.

Francis sidelined
Erskine's Dale Francis Jr., the 2023 Conference Carolinas player of the year, left Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader at Francis Marion with an injury and did not play in Game 2. In a response to an e-mail from Palmetto State Baseball, Flying Fleet coach Mark Crocco said Francis was being evaluated for an apparent foot injury. He did not say if there was a timetable for the redshirt junior's return.
Francis, a first baseman-outfielder from Fort Pierce, Fla., was batting .405 with 15 homers and 53 RBI. He had 14 homers and 51 RBI while batting .442 in 2023.

Pollock reaches milestone
Presbyterian coach Elton Pollock got his 400th win as coach of the Blue Hose in Sunday's 9-2 win over Radford. He coached his 1,000th game at PC late in the 2023 season.SAC changes tournament site
The South Atlantic Conference announced Tuesday that the champion series of the conference baseball tournament will be played May 10-11 at McCrary Park in Asheboro, N.C. Conference officials there was a conflict for those dates at Smokies Stadium in Kodak, Tenn., where the tournament was played from several years.SAC
