Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, May 13-19: The Citadel

The Citadel (2-1)
(went 2-1 at Mercer)

It's been a long, frustrating couple of months for coach Tony Skole's Bulldogs since a win over UMass on March 17 improved their record to 14-5.

They've gone 7-26 since then, losing 18 of  their first 19 Southern Conference games. Twelve of the 26 defeats were by three runs or less.

But Saturday, they got a doubleheader sweep at Mercer, tripling their conference win total.

It may not sound like much, but it allows them to enter the Southern Conference Tournament with some positive feelings.

Up next: The NJCAA World Series begins May 25 in Grand Junction, Colo.
