Gilmore to coach Collegiate National Team

Retired Coastal Carolina coach Gary Gilmore will be back in the dugout this summer.

USA Baseball announced on Wednesday that Gilmore will be the manager of the Collegiate National Team for a four-game tour.

Remaining staff and the 56-player training camp roster will be announced later.

SMC's Wright to play in Holland

Spartanburg Methodist pitcher Davis Wright has been selected by the National Junior College Athletic Association to play for a team representing the United States at a tournament in Haarlem, Netherlands, July 12-19.

Wright, a left-hander from Ridgeway, was 8-2 with a 2.54 ERA as a sophomore. He struck out 72 in 63 2/3 innings.  Wright was 15-4 for his SMC career with 130 strikeouts ion 123 2/3 innings. He has committed to play at Western Carolina.
