North Greenville hires Owings

Former major-leaguer Micah Owings is joining coach Landon Powell's staff at North Greenville University.

The Gainesville, Ga., native pitched for the Diamondbacks, Reds and Padres during six-year career. He had a 32-33 record with two complete games, a shutout and a save in 138 appearances between 2007 and 2012. He hit .283 with nine home runs in his career.

Owings played collegiately at Georgia Tech and Tulane.

Corn heads to Limestone

Social media posts indicate Limestone has hired Erskine pitching coach Jacob Corn to fill the same role on the Saints' staff.

Limestone baseball's X account posted a screen shot of Saints players in a Zoom call to meet Corn. Erskine has removed Corn's page from its website and Corn's X account lists him as Limestone's pitching coach.

Corn, who played at Spartanburg Methodist and Western Carolina, was pitching coach for the Flying Fleet for the last two seasons. He helped Johnny Hummel have an outstanding 2023 season in Due West, earning him a chance to transfer to Kentucky.

The move brings Corn closer to his hometown of Landrum.

Patriots hire Winterstein

George Mason University has hired Tommy Winterstein as its pitching coach.  Winterstein played at both USC Lancaster and Charleston Southern.
