ACC Tournament goes to Durham in 2025

The ACC announced venues, dates and format for its championship events for the 2024-25 season. The baseball tournament will be May 20-25, 2025, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The format is the same as in recent years: 12-team pool play, followed by semifinals and finals.

Bo knows Charleston

Former baseball and football star Bo Jackson will be the featured speaker for the Charleston RiverDogs' 21st annual Hot Stove Banquet. The event is set for Jan. 31, 2025, at the Charleston Gaillard Center. Tickets will go on sale to the public Aug. 26.

Jackson, a Heisman Trophy while at Auburn, was an all-star in both baseball and football during his professional career.

Ex-Bearcat Ellard called up

Former Lander pitcher Fraser Ellard has been called up by the Chicago White Sox, becoming the first former Bearcat to reach the Major Leagues. Ellard, a left-hander, played at Lander from 2018-2020 before playing his senior season at Liberty.

He was 2-3 with 3 saves and 3.76 ERA in 38 relief appearances at AAA Charlotte this season. He has struck out 59 in 40 2/3 innings and holding opponents to a .227 batting average.
