State schedule, Feb. 16-22

The conference schedule begins for NJCAA Region 10 this week, with two of teams usually jockeying for the championship meeting on the first weekend.

Defending champion Florence-Darlington Tech and Gaston College have a three-game series at Sims Legion Park in Gastonia Saturday (doubleheader) and Sunday.

USC Salkehatchie at USC Lancaster and USC Union at USC Sumter are the other Region 10 matchups.

Coastal Carolina plays host to its annual Baseball at the Beach event, with Illinois and Virginia Commonwealth the opponents Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Also, the annual One Spartanburg, Inc., Classic starts Friday, with Presbyterian, USC Upstate and Wofford playing one home game each against NJIT (New Jersey Tech), Northern Illinois and Valparaiso over the weekend.

And in Columbia, Army, Air Force and Navy will play one game each against South Carolina.  Marshall, which plays at The Citadel Friday and Saturday, swaps places with Army on Sunday so the Black Knights can play The Citadel in Charleston. There are two games each day in Columbia.

Tuesday highlights include South Carolina's game against Wofford at Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg. a Clemson home game against Charlotte and a College of Charleston visit to Coastal Carolina. In-state matchups include Newberry at Erskine and Lander at Francis Marion.

 

USC Upstate plays at Georgia on Wednesday, while Winthrop is at N.C. State and Coker is at USC Aiken.
