* Briefly: Nate Savoie capped his six-RBI day with a grand slam off the batters' eye in the seventh inning to complete Clemson's (15-1) third run-rule win of the weekend against La Salle (8-6). Savoie, Tryston McCladdie and Jarren Purify had three hits apiece for the Tigers, who have won seven straight. Clemson pitchers struck out 10 and allowed one hit over five shutout innings to close out the game ... Talmadge LeCroy hit a grand slam and Tyler Bak and  Logan Sutter drove in three runs apiece as South Carolina (12-5) completed a sweep of Princeton (2-8) with a run-rule win. Sutter had three hits, including his third home run of the series. Amp Phillips struck out seven in five innings ... Ryan Piekutoski had five hits - including a double and two homers - and drove in five runs as USC Sumter (14-7, 5-3) took the deciding game of a Region 10 series at USC Lancaster (11-11, 2-6) ... Kaden Myers pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings of middle relief and College of Charleston (7-8, 2-1) took the rubber game of a Coastal Athletic Association series against Hofstra (1-8, 1-2). Stow Rogers hit a home run that traveled an estimated 435 feet ... Oliver Zohn doubled and homered to drive in six runs and Riley Hood added 5 RBI as Lander (14-8, 8-4) took the deciding game of a Peach Belt Conference series with Augusta (12-10, 8-4). The Bearcats scored four runs in the second inning, 10 in the third and five in the fourth ... Kenyan Conner had three hits in each game - including a grand slam in Game 2 - and drove in seven runs as Benedict (9-5, 7-5) salvaged the finale of an SIAC series with Edward Waters (11-11, 7-5) ... East Carolina (8-7-1) took the finale of its series at Coastal Carolina (9-6) in a game halted because of weather. The Pirates had scored two more runs in the seventh inning before play was halted, but the game reverted to the final complete inning. The Chanticleers' Rex Watson hit his third home run of the series to account for three runs ... Ben Timblin had three hits and drove in five runs in Game 2 as Wofford (10-5) split a doubleheader with Belmont (6-10). Timblin's two-run's homer in the first inning gave the Terriers a lead they never relinquished ... Texas (15-0) completed a sweep of USC Upstate (7-10) with a run-rule win. Tyler Lang singled, doubled and drove in two runs for the Spartans, who have lost five straight ... Kentucky (14-2) held The Citadel (5-8) scoreless after a five-run second inning to complete a series sweep ... A bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly in the 12th inning gave Columbus State (11-8, 6-3) the margin of victory in the rubber game of a Peach Belt Conference series at USC Aiken (16-6, 6-3). The Pacers had forced extra innings on a two-out RBI single by Salvatore Laimo in the ninth ... Appalachian State (10-5) hit three home runs as it completed a sweep of Presbyterian (2-14) ... Virginia State (3-2) scored seven runs in the eighth inning to pull away from Morris (2-10) ... Flagler (15-6, 5-4) pitching held USC Beaufort (4-16, 0-12) to two hits in completing the Peach Belt Conference sweep. The Sand Sharks have lost seven straight.

* Surprises beyond the border: Sacramento State beat No. 2 LSU, 6-1, to win the series, 2-1 ... Virginia Tech beat No. 5 Georgia Tech, 9-6 ... Stetson stopped No. 6 Arkansas, 4-1 ... With the aid of five walks, No. 9 Florida scored four runs in the ninth to avoid a series sweep by High Point, 12-11 ... Tulane topped No. 17 TCU, 8-4, as part of a doubleheader split ... Wright State shut out No. 19 Tennessee, 6-0 ... Boston College got as series win at No. 24 Miami, 9-5 ... New Mexico State dumped No. 25 UTSA, 5-4 ... North Dakota State (2-13) beat Vanderbilt, 5-2 ... Georgia Southwestern took its second 2-1 victory of the weekend over NCAA Division II No. 1 Tampa.
