Drew Burress hit two home runs as No. 4 Georgia Tech (16-2, 3-1) run-ruled No. 11 Clemson (15-3, 0-1) in seven innings in the opener of an ACC series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Tigers starter Aidan Knaak (0-2) struck out five through two innings, but allowed two-run homers to Burress and Vahn Lackey in the third.

The Yellow Jackets drove Knaak from the game in the fifth when the first four batters he faced reached base (one on and error) and scored. Burress started the onslaught with his second homer of the game. 

Knaak, who did not pitch last week in an errors to keep him fresh later in the season, struck out eight.

Tate McKee (3-0) pitched the first six innings for Georgia Tech.

Lackey and Carson Kerce had three hits apiece for Tech, which had four doubles and three doubles among its 12 hits.

Clemson's only hits were a third-inning single by Jarren Purify and a single by Jay Dillard in the seventh. A crowd of 4,437 was in attendance.

The series continues at 8 p.m. Friday night, with coverage on the ACC Network.
