Team of the week, March 16-22: Florence-Darlington Tech

Florence-Darlington Tech
(went 4-0)
(beat Robeson CC, went 3-0 vs. USC Union)

Sunday marked the midway point of the NJCAA Region 10 schedule, with Florence-Darlington Tech (12-3) resting one game behind Gaston College (13-2).

The Stingers trail by a game because they went 1-2 at Gaston College the first weekend region play.

The second lap around the region begins next weekend, with Tech playing host to Gaston College.

Coach Preston McDonald certainly has his offense in a good place. The Stingers have scored 77 runs in their last five games, including 4-0 this past week.

They're batting .343 as a team with 348 runs scored, 45 homers and 168 stolen bases in 35 games.  Contrast that with Gaston College, which is batting .368 with 411 runs scored 74 homers and 70 steals. The Rhinos have scored 11 or more runs in nine straight games.

It ought to be a dandy series.
