* Briefly: A.J. Gracia hit a three-run homer in the second inning and Jake Weatherspoon had a three-run double in the sixth and No. 9 Virginia (27-12, 11-8 ACC) took Game 1 of a series with Clemson (24-15, 5-11). Luke Gaffney hit a two-run home in the Tigers' second and Jacob Jarrell homered in the sixth to tie the score at three. But Weatherspoon delivered the deciding runs in the bottom of the inning. Tigers starter Aidan Knaak (2-4) struck out 10, but allowed all six runs. Gaffney and Nate Savoie had two hits apiece. Gracia's homer was his fifth in seven games against Clemson. He transferred from Duke to UVA to play for former coach Chris Pollard ... Voorhees (9-21, 8-10 HBCUAC) stole 16 bases and snapped a four-game losing streak in the opener and put up 10 runs in the fifth inning of Game 2 to pick up a sweep at Oakwood (3-29, 1-18). Ethan Farrell had three hits in each game and stole six bases. The Tigers also stole 16 in Game 2.
