* Conference Carolinas Tournament: Drew Bray and Jeo Hernandez hit back-to-back homers to open the game and Young Harris (39-16) went on to shut out North Greenville (46-10) in the championship game. Young Harris added two runs in the fifth and put the game on the path to a run-rule ending by scoring nine in the sixth. Pitchers Austin Ritchie and Trey Griffen combined on a four-hitter shutout as the Mountain Lions earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional with its first tournament title. North Greenville is expected to receive an at-large bid to the event.
* Peach Belt Conference Tournament: Lander (34-19) broke a tie with two runs in the seventh and held on to beat Columbus State (30-22) to advance to the conference championship series this weekend. Cooper Backman's RBI fielder's choice scored Jarren Metcalf and Riley Hood came in on a throwing error on the play. Brody Winter added a homer in the eighth inning. Evan Demurias (4-2) pitched the final 2 2/3 innings to get the win. Top seed North Georgia will host the championship series, with Game 1 at 5 p.m. Friday.

Gabe Herold and Jake Little homered for FD Tech. Gaston College got two homers apiece from Caden Davidson, Nick Diehl and Joey Nicholson and a solo homer for Gabe Simmons in the opener. Diehl and David Nicks went deep in the nightcap, giving Gaston College 149 homers for the season. The Stingers' fourth win over the Rhinos this season earned them the host a spot in the NJCAA East District playoffs this weekend. Tech will play Harford CC in a best-of-three series.
* NCCAA South Regional: Bob Jones (14-25) used a pair of pickoffs to get out of a jam in the sixth and Henry Rumble broke a tie with his third homer of the game in the seventh inning as the Bruins topped Southeastern Baptist (19-19) in a first-round game. Rumble hit solo home runs in the first and fifth innings. Southeastern Baptist got a home run in the second inning and tied the game with a homer in the sixth, but a potential bigger inning was averted by two pickoffs. Evan Johnson got a two-out single in the BJU seventh and Rumble followed with his go-ahead blast. Tillman Padgett pitched a three-hit complete game for the Bruins. The sixth Bruins team set a school record for wins in a season. BJU faces top seed Fort Lauderdale at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Toccoa Falls College.
