* NCAA Division I: Clemson (27-20, 7-16 ACC) scored 11 runs in the first inning and evened its series with No. 20 Boston College (35-15, 17-9) with a run-rule win. Nate Savoie and Luke Gaffney had back-to-back homers as part of the first-inning uprising. Michael Sharman (6-1) allowed six hits and two runs in six innings ... South Carolina (22-26, 7-16 SEC) scored a run on three hits in the first and was shut out on three hits the rest of the way in Game 1 and avoided a similar meager output in Game 2 by scoring two ninth-inning runs in a sweep at LSU (27-21, 8-15). The Tigers snapped a nine-game conference losing streak and moved past USC in the standings ... Johnny Sweeney's 31st career home run was a grand slam, helping USC Upstate (21-26, 10-10 Big South) clinch at series win over Gardner-Webb (21-26, 8-12). Sweeney, who drove in six runs, passed former teammate Grant Sherriod to become the school's career leader during the NCAA Division I era ... Winthrop (30-17, 13-4 Big South) scored four runs in the eighth inning to clinch a series win at UNC Asheville (17-30, 5-12) ... Mason Snyder pitched five hitless innings of shutout relief and Jackson Lyda's RBI single in the ninth inning lifted Western Carolina (30-17, 11-6 SoCon) over Wofford (31-16, 9-5) to even their series ... Trevor Lucas had three hits and drove in four runs as UNCW (26-19, 14-9 CAA) evened its series with College of Charleston (21-24, 11-12).  Lucas had a three-run homer in the sixth to give the Seahawks a six-run lead ... Game 2 of the Coastal Carolina-Georgia Southern series was postponed until part of a doubleheader at noon Sunday ... The Citadel's home game with Presbyterian was postponed and will be made up as part of a Sunday doubleheader at Clinton.

* Conference Carolinas: Josh Foulks hit a two-run homer in the first inning and No. 1 seed North Greenville (45-9) never trailed as it eliminated No. 2 seed Francis Marion (42-12). Foulks and Thomas Powell had three hits apiece ... Earlier, Charlie Bussey III singled and homered as Francis Marion eliminated UNC Pembroke (33-18) ... North Greenville scored four runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to rally past Mount Olive (29-21). The Trailblazers tied the game on a bases-loaded walk, then Landon Peavy had an RBI single and Joe Cash added a two-run single.

* Peach Belt Conference: Lander (33-18) reached the championship round of the Lander Regional by scoring three runs in the eighth inning to beat Columbus State (28-21). The Cougars had scored two runs in the eighth to go up 3-1, but Lander tied the score on two wild pitches to Cooper Backman and Backman then drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly. The Bearcats extended their winning streak to 11 games ... Yariel Diaz and Blake Martin drove in two runs apiece as USC Aiken (36-16) eliminated Georgia College (22-27) and advanced to a game against Columbus State on Sunday.

* Region 10: Scott Henry homered twice and drove in four runs as USC Lancaster (24-27) survived a elimination game. USC Salkehatchie (3-49) ended the season on a 36-game losing streak ... USC Union (31-23) scored two runs in the seventh and four in the eighth - the last three coming on Garvey Person's triple - to pass USC Sumter (35-20) and advance to Sunday.

* South Atlantic Conference: Newberry (28-24) scored the first three runs on bases-loaded walks and three more with the help of Carson-Newman (31-19) errors in a seven-run third inning as the Wolves advanced to a Sunday game against Lenoir-Rhyne ... Ian Hawk pitched a seven-inning three-hitter as Coker (17-33) run-ruled Lincoln Memorial (29-23) to advance to Sunday's championship round against Catawba. Luke Alford and Peter Adams had three hits apiece for the Cobras. Earlier in the day, Cooper Mitchell (1-3) allowed two hits and a run while striking out seven in six innings as Coker beat Mars Hill (26-25-1).
